At this Sunday's rehearsal, the MS cast will be receiving their additional parts for those who tried out the for remaining roles at this past week's Tuesday practice. We are reviewing and sharing these additional placements all together as one cast in our MS Cast meeting time after lunch on Sunday as there are a few additional roles/parts being worked in that MS students have not had a moment to consider and then the cast list will be updated and posted on the blog following Sunday rehearsal. Each performer will also receive a scene by scene handout that tells them in which scenes and characters they appear. This Scene breakdown is available on both the MS Cast page and under the songs, lists, schedules, and forms tab on the right side of the blog post. 

This is the last time that the MS schedule will be released on a week by week basis, like how the Davis Lions Sports Weekly Practices are shared, now that basketball season is winding down, all of our basketball players/actors can join us regularly,  and now that our full cast list is completed, we can better assess which actors and which scenes need to be called for rehearsal on each day.


REMAINING WEEKLY REHEARSAL DAYS SCHEDULE WILL BE POSTED ON SUNDAY:
Please be mindful that the schedule is still subject to change as to what character(s) are called or duration of rehearsal time over the next several weeks and months as sometimes a scene is blocked more quickly than expected and sometimes a dance number takes much longer to teach and learn than expected. We will ALWAYS give at two weeks notice or more to ANY changes in the MS rehearsal schedule.

As always, the crew has a flexible schedule on Sundays until March 4th, and may come anytime between 10am and 2:30pm for any duration of time she/he would like to stay and work.

ALL CAST & CREW  PAJAMA REHEARSAL DAY THIS SUNDAY!  

ALL Cast & Crew may wear appropriate PJs to rehearsal this Sunday if you would like. Please remember to wear shoes in which you can dance.

FOOD & DRINK REMINDER FOR SUNDAY REHEARSALS

• Please pack a water bottle for all practices. Please pack a snack for this Sunday's rehearsal.  We will be providing a snack at Sunday rehearsals beginning in February. See quick reference chart below.
• Please pack a lunch if you are staying later than 1pm for rehearsals or if you get hungry during rehearsals regardless of what time your rehearsal ends.
• Reminder: Beginning in late February as the length of rehearsals expand,  we will provide the opportunity for students to purchase pizza. More information about pizza purchasing will come in the week preceding our offering it. 
• Please note that there will be no food or drinks permitted in the theatre at any time. In addition, there is no eating or drinking in the atrium.

The cast has been selected and the rehearsals are in full swing for our endearing and exciting production of James and the Giant Peach, Jr., which will take place in the Rosenberg Performing Arts Theatre, located at the Lower School!  Almost 150 Mechina through eighth-grade students will participate in this performance both on stage and as members of the crew, not to mention more than 50 Davis Academy alumni who will be returning to school to work with students as part of our alumni mentor program. 

We invite you to support our upcoming musical production and our theatre and fine arts programs in a special way. Your patronage allows us to maintain our artistic excellence and provides the professional expertise, artistic materials, and supplies necessary to produce an all-school Broadway-style, student-centered production as outstanding as James and the Giant Peach, Jr.

For the second year, we will have an online reservation process for Sponsor Seating, which will open on February 11^th at 8:00 am and will close on February 26^th at 8:00 am. Sponsor reservations are available in advance of public ticket sales, which will begin in the pre-dawn hours of February 28^th.  As we expect a high demand for tickets, please be aware that sponsor seating will not be available after sales are open to the general public.

Show Performance Assignments

All lower school cast members will appear in all 4 shows (3 open audience shows and the show for our preschool guests/lower school friends). MS Cast also appears in all 4 shows in varying roles and capacities. Middle School Cast Principal and Supporting role show date performance determinations will be made in the near future and several days in advance of Sponsor Seating online reservations going live on 2/11/19.

 SUNDAY REHEARSALS IN GENERAL RE-POST:

What do I need to know about Sunday rehearsals?

• Sunday rehearsals are tremendously fun and the whole cast and crew get to be together!! :) 

• All pickup and drop off will be done through the carpool lobby at the lower school.  Please form a single file line in our carpool lane for pick up.

• Please pack a water bottle for all practices. We will be providing a snack at Sunday rehearsals in February. For January,  you are welcome to send a snack and/or lunch in. Beginning in late February we will provide the opportunity for students to purchase pizza. More information about pizza purchasing will come in the week preceding our offering it. Please note that there will be no food or drinks permitted in the theatre at any time. In addition, there is no eating or drinking in the atrium.

• As in years past, the MS Cast (LS cast and crew if staying longer than 2 hours) is allowed to bring a lunch beginning the first Sunday rehearsal as your rehearsals are longer. 

• THE CREW may stay for whatever duration of Sunday rehearsal they would like to from January to late February Sunday rehearsals. Reminder: Crew may attend the first read through in December and ALL rehearsals the two weeks prior to the opening of the show plus the show performances (if on running crew) and strike. These dates are MARCH 4-MARCH 19. Tech week is mandatory for ALL crew members. 

• Students will leave their backpacks, sweatshirts…etc in the atrium along the brick wall.

• Should you arrive after carpool concludes or need to pick up early, you will need to call the theatre sound booth phone (678-527-3328) to let us know you are at the front door.  There will not always be someone near the booth phone, so the best plan is to please come and leave at the designated times. Please keep this at a minimum as we want to make the most out of our practice time.

• Please do not make food or drink deliveries during rehearsal times.

• The rehearsals are only for cast and crew.   We ask that only parents, siblings, and friends who have been preassigned to volunteer come into the building during the rehearsal times.

• Sunday Rehearsal Reminder for LS Cast members 
• Lower School cast members are asked to attend Sunday rehearsals, (they must attend at least 3 of the 5), on January 13, January 27, February 3, February 10 and February 24.
• Sundays March 3  and March 10  are mandatory for all cast and crew.
